END OF SECOND SEMESTER

The second semester is about to end. I have already taken three examination papers. Two more papers left to go. So far Economics paper was more difficult. The other two papers (Sociology foundations and issues and Economics Statistics) were quite okay. I will write the next papers; Social Psychology and Sociology in a week’s time. I will finish the last paper on the 9th of December, 09. Since hard work is crown with success I know my effort will be rewarded in due course.

The first semester started well with lots of academic work .Every student was trying to find solutions to difficult assignment or the other way round. Research works have been on the increase as compared with the level hundreds curricular activities. However, I had the opportunity to take part in an excursion undertaken by the SmartKids to Kakum National Park in Cape Coast. The trip was very interesting. Everybody was happy to have such an opportunity to walk on the one of the few Canopy walkways in the world. From the Kakum National Park, we had a tour of the Sea at the Cape Coast Castle. It was the first time most of the SmartKids hard the opportunity to witness the Sea breeze.
This is a photograph of me and friend on the canopy walkway

The first thing I will do when School go on vacation is to visit the Junior SmartKids in School. I need to be with them to discuss issues concerning the choices of Senior High School .It is a very crucial moment to assist them to select good Senior High Schools and choice of various courses they are going to offer in these Schools. I will also visit Madam Ross and pay another visit to other SmartKids at KNUST and other tertiary institutions in Kumasi and Obuasi.

BIO-ALIU,SMARTKID

I’m a gentleman born on 26th November, 1986 in a small village called Twifu Praso in the Central Region of Ghana. I’m the third child of six siblings to my parents. When I turned seven my parents enrolled me in school. I could remember how sad I became when I was first sent to school. My class teacher had to device appropriate means for me to like the idea of being in school. She pampered me in class, gave me the needed help. However, all her efforts proved futile. I didn’t like being in school. I always stayed away from class. I loved being with my parents.
I started having good interest in schooling at the age of ten. At that time I was in class three. I had more interest in going to school. I became one of the best pupils in class. In fact, every teacher became happy with me as a result of my excessive improvement. I was adopted by one of the teachers .She paid my fees and almost all my basic needs. Unfortunately for me, my teacher was transferred to the city and therefore she sent me to my parents. Being with my parents was a blow to me because I saw that some of my basic needs were under gratified. I still pursued my education to the junior high but with some sort of financial difficulties. My parent had to take me to a less endured school where they could pay less school fees.
In the year 2004, I graduated from the Junior High School with distinction. I had the second best student award. After my graduation, I attended a four month computer training organized by the District Assembly. I helped other kids in their studies. My siblings also enjoyed my service.
I went to my grandmother who was staying in our village to spend some time with her. When our examination results were out, I became very happy because I performed very well. I qualified for Senior High school to offer any course of my choice. However, my parent didn’t have the needed fund to support me further my education. I was to stay at home without going to school. Fortunately for me, one of my teachers informed me about a smartKid foundation that intends sponsoring brilliant but needy kids to go to school. I never hesitated to attend the interview organized by the Chairperson of the SmartKids foundation, Mad Comfort. Some few kids and I passed the interview .We were told to report to school in one of the best senior secondary schools in Kumasi. I went to the house and told my parents about the good news.
I went to Kumasi to start school. In fact, that was my first time to be in Kumasi. I met the sponsor, Kees, and other selected kids. It was also the first time for me to interact with a white man. I had a problem in understanding him as a result of his strange accent. An inauguration was held for all of the selected kids.
With had work, I passed the final examination .I qualified to pursue my education at the tertiary level. I applied and had admission to pursue a four year B.A (SOCIAL SCIENCES) degree program at University of Cape Coast, Ghana. I’m at the moment in my second year. I’m being sponsored by the SmartKids foundation.
When I finished the S.H.S, I taught as a pupil teacher in a school in my village. In the house, I helped my siblings to attend school. I took part in farming activities. This provided a sort of subsistence to the family. I organized extra classes for them in the house. I provided a helping hand to people who wanted to learn computing. This has made me popular in the town.
I like playing football, table tennis and computer games. I also enjoy people playing chess but never boarder to learn how to play. I like reading novels and making new friends.
